Watch What You Agree With

Have you ever caught yourself nodding along or saying “Amen” to something, only to later realize it didn’t quite line up with God’s Word?

In a world filled with opinions, podcasts, reels, memes, and motivational quotes, we must be so careful what we give our agreement to. Just because something sounds good, doesn’t mean it’s God. And as daughters of the King, we are called to filter everything we hear, read, and repeat through the lens of His truth—not feelings, trends, or culture.

🎯 Be Discerning—Not Everything “Sounds” Wrong

The Bible is clear in 1 Thessalonians 5:21:

“Test everything; hold fast to what is good.”

This means that even if something feels right or is said by someone we admire, we still need to pause and ask, “Is this biblical?”

You see, agreement is powerful. When we say “yes” to something—whether out loud or in our hearts—we give it room to take root. That’s why the enemy doesn’t always come with a lie wrapped in obvious sin. Sometimes he disguises it in partial truth or emotional appeal.

Examples of Modern Half-Truths:

  • “You are enough.”

That sounds empowering, but Scripture says Christ is our sufficiency (2 Corinthians 3:5). Without Him, we are nothing.

  • “Follow your heart.”

Sounds poetic, but the Bible warns: “The heart is deceitful above all things” (Jeremiah 17:9).

  • “Speak your truth.”

But there’s only one Truth, and His name is Jesus (John 14:6).

We’ve got to be so careful not to let popular sayings replace eternal truth.

The Authority of God’s Word

God’s Word is supreme over every spoken word—period.

Isaiah 40:8 reminds us:

“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.”

Human words will fade, trends will pass, emotions will shift—but His Word? It remains.

When you find yourself listening to a sermon, a song, or scrolling through content—ask yourself:

  • What is this pointing me toward?

  • Is this truth, or is this opinion?

  • Does this agree with Scripture or culture?

Practical Steps to Guard Your Agreement:

  1. Slow your “Amen.” Just because someone’s passionate doesn’t mean they’re biblically accurate.

  2. Stay in the Word. The more time you spend in Scripture, the easier it will be to spot the counterfeits.

  3. Ask the Holy Spirit. He is the Spirit of truth. If something feels off—pause and pray.

  4. Teach others to do the same. Especially the next generation. Show them how to test what they hear and speak life based on God’s Word.

Let’s be women who watch what we agree with. Not everything deserves your “yes.” Some things deserve your silence. Others deserve your stand. Let’s hold fast to the unshakable, unchanging, unfailing Word of God.

Because when we agree with His Word… we’re on solid ground.

Shae 💔
